Jim Burr is a licensed acupuncturist in the states of Maryland and Washington. He is board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) as a Diplomate of Acupuncture. He is currently pursuing certification as a Diplomate of Chinese Herbology. Jim obtained a Masters Degree in Acupuncture from the Tai Sophia institute, the nation’s oldest accredited college of acupuncture. While there, Jim studied Five Element Style acupuncture. This style focuses on treatment of emotional and spiritual issues.
During the clinic phase of his studies Jim worked with cancer patients and veterans suffering from post traumatic stress disorder.Jim uses a blend of Five Element and Traditional Chinese Medicine style acupuncture to assist his patients. He currently focuses on pain relief, insomnia, anxiety/depression, and PTSD. He offers group acupuncture for veterans, active duty military, and military spouses at reduced rates. Community acupuncture classes are available Wednesday evenings at 6:00 and are open to all.
